How to spot a fake fine or payment message

- 2The link is not an official government or bank website.
- 3It comes from a personal mobile number.
- 4It asks for your card number, PIN or a one-time password.
- 5The amount or fine is something you do not recognise.
How to check safely
Do not tap the link. Open the official app or type the official website yourself, then search for the fine or payment using your plate number, file number or account.
If you cannot find it there, it is very likely a scam.
Government fines are never paid through a personal link.
If you already paid or shared details
Call your bank immediately using the number on its official website or your card, and ask them to block the card. Report the message to the police through their official channel.
