Documents we explain
Common Gulf documents, what they mean and what to check. Each page links to the official help for your country.
- Employment contractAR+ENAn employment contract sets your salary, working hours, leave, notice period and job title. In the Gulf it is often printed in Arabic and English side by side. If the two versions differ, ask which one is official before you sign.
- Offer letterENAn offer letter describes the job, salary and benefits an employer is offering you. It usually comes before the formal contract. Check that every number in it appears again in your contract.
- Contract renewalAR+ENA contract renewal extends your employment, sometimes with new terms. The most important thing to check is what changed: salary, allowances, notice period and the new end date.
- MOHRE / Qiwa / Absher noticeARThese are official messages about your work permit, contract or residency, sent by SMS, email or app. They usually have a transaction number and sometimes a deadline. Check the details in the official app before you act.
- Traffic fineAR+ENA traffic fine notice tells you the violation, the amount, the date and sometimes black points. Pay only through the official police or government app or website, never through a link in an SMS.
- Tenancy (Ejari / Tawtheeq / Ejar)AR+ENA tenancy contract sets the rent, payment schedule, contract dates and the notice needed to leave or renew. Most Gulf cities require it to be registered with the official system.
- Court or police SMSARCourt and police messages usually include a case number and a date. Do not ignore them. GulfExplain can explain what the message says, but for decisions you should speak to a lawyer or your embassy or consulate.
- Bank letterENBank letters tell you about payments due, overdue amounts, blocked cards or account changes. Check the amount, the due date and the official contact number before you pay or call.
- Termination letterAR+ENA termination letter tells you your last working day and usually your final dues. Check the dates and the amounts carefully, and keep a copy before you sign anything.
- Medical or insurance letterENInsurance letters explain what your policy covers, approvals for treatment and what you must pay yourself. GulfExplain explains the document, not your diagnosis.
